As part of that presentation I talked about the sometimes uneasy relationship between retailers, specifically the traditional bricks and mortar companies and the consumer armed with a smart phone.
For example; I talked about the perceived threat of “showrooming” where a consumer browses in store, but shops on-line for the same product (often while standing in the store). It’s a particularly hot topic that has been described by some as tantamount to stealing.
However, during my research for the webinar I unearthed some interesting numbers about the positive influence SmartPhones and tablets have on the customer journey and the buying decision, including the revenue that industry analysts are attributing to mobile influenced retail.
